Statement

At Elevare™ Career Institute (ECI), we prioritize the safety and wellbeing of our community by maintaining a safe environment for all. We ensure timely reporting and thorough investigation of safety incidents to prevent recurrence, fostering an atmosphere where everyone can thrive.

Purpose

To establish a culturally-sensitive, trauma-informed approach to effectively manage emergencies and crises while establishing procedures for reporting and documenting safety incidents to ensure a safe learning environment with minimal disruption to our educational mission.

Key Terms

  • Safety Incident: Any event that results in or has the potential to result in injury or harm.
  • Critical Incident: Any event requiring immediate response that impacts our community's safety or wellbeing.
  • Crisis: A serious escalation that threatens ECI's operations or reputation.
  • Emergency Response Team (ERT): Members appointed from the ECI community will manage facilities and operations during critical incidents and crises faced by the Institute.
  • Trauma-informed Response: An approach that recognizes and responds to the effects of all types of trauma.

Scope

This policy covers all ECI community members across all campus locations, with specific provisions for:

  • Domestic and international students
  • Faculty and staff
  • Contractors and visitors
  • Online and in-person activities

Emergency Response Team

Purpose

The ERT will respond to critical incidents that cannot be resolved immediately. Safety incidents that can be addressed on the spot can simply be reported.

For immediate emergency assistance outside business hours, students and staff should contact emergency services (911) directly. The ERT handles incident follow-up and non-emergency situations during regular business hours.

Prevention and Preparation

The Institute is committed to ensuring the safety of all stakeholders through the following measures:

Multiple communication channels (email, SMS) with regular status updates to affected parties.

This policy is approved by the Executive Director of Elevare™ Career Institute and enforced by the Emergency Response Team. It aligns with EQA requirements and demonstrates our commitment to providing a safe, supportive environment for all community members.

General Emergency Protocol (ACTS)

ASSESS: Evaluate the situation for immediate danger
